Property taxes:
We are just now seeing the impact of Governor Daniels' and the House Republicans 2005 budget that was balanced on the backs of schools and property owners forcing property taxes to go up by nearly $1 billion. House Democrats are committed to finding meaningful solutions to the property tax crisis.

Creating Quality High-Paying Jobs:
Good jobs are scarce and our state's economy is slowing down. House Democrats pledge to create new high-paying jobs and help keep existing ones here. We oppose the privatization of our state's assets and the outsourcing of jobs out-of-state and over seas.

Improving Education:
There is no greater investment we can make than in our children and their education. House Democrats will fight to fully fund our schools, lower class sizes, and help ensure our children recieve a quality education so they can be competitive in the 21st century.

Expanding Access to Affordable Healthcare:
Nearly 800,000 Hoosiers are uninsured and have little to no access to quality healthcare. In 2007, House Democrats and Senate Republicans worked together to pass the Healthy Indiana Plan that greatly expanded the Children's Health Insurance Plan (CHIP) and greatly increased coverage for working individuals and families. House Democrats will continue to find innovative programs to help expand health coverage for all Hoosiers.
